The mission of the NMVMA is to promote veterinary medicine and quality animal care through communication, fellowship, and professional growth of New Mexico veterinarians.
We speak on behalf of the public, the animals and the veterinarians to:
- enhance human/animal bonds
- encourage and enhance lifelong learning and high ethical standards for NM veterinarians
- promote public safety as it pertains to the practice of veterinary medicine
- promote responsible legislation and regulation in order to protect the rights and privileges of NM veterinarians
- assist in the veterinary education of students in and from New Mexico
- promote the image and value of veterinarians and the veterinary profession to the people of New Mexico

In 2006, the New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association celebrated seventy-five years of serving the veterinary profession in New Mexico. This project grew out of a desire to put on paper some of the experiences of our colleagues, which would be lost forever as they retire from active practice.
